Mares > Brimm - 2006 > Catcher - 2012
Catcher (2012) is by Mr Jess Tex (PE: $1+ Mio) and out of Brimm and Proper (SI 91, ROM and LTE: $18'940). Catcher is the grandson of the late and great Mr Jess Perry (SI 113, LTE: $687'184, AQHA Hall of Fame) and of Brimmerton (SI 104, LTE: $519'538, Champion 3-Year-Old Colt). He does not lack mare power either: his grand-dam on the top is Miss O Toole (SI 88) by Special Effort, the dam of the Winner of the fastest All-American Futurity: Eyesa Special (SI 107, LTE: $1'394'911)! His grand-dam on the bottom is Heavenly Note (SI 118, LTE: $67'500, 3rd Rainbow Futurity G1) by Special Effort and with PE: $512'922! Catcher has an exceptional quiet disposition, that he passes on to all of his offspring together with plenty of athleticism and style! He was broke to ride but got injured in reining training - still happy to do ranch work or go on trail rides.
His pedigree is uniquely put together in order to balance the background strenght between the cornerstones of athletic ability and sheer speed. These genetics make him a valuable addition to our cow horse breeding program! With his exceptional trainability, his natural calmness and quiet disposition combined with his his smaller size (14.3 h), stout built and spotless conformation, he adds coolness and style to our cow horses. Catcher is in-bred to Special Effort, the only Quarter Horse Triple Crown Winner! As Special Effort has proven to be a very potent and successful broodmare sire, this filly factor improves Catcher's excellent pedigree even more and adds to the explanation why Catcher is such an outstanding producer. He is further nicely patterend to St Bar with a ruling pattern to Three Bars through some of the most proven speed bloodlines in the Quarter Horse industry. Catcher's offspring sure can run but are relaxed and easy going horses that everybody can handle. This is what makes this stallion truly exeptional: his foals are talented enough to perform but quiet enough to be family horses doing well at club shows.

Catcher was rejected by his dam and raised as bottle baby. Our old mare Sandy adopted him and he also had aunt Pearl, another older mare. These two old ladies raised him and made it possible for him to grow up in the herd. He was able to "nurse" at a specially constructed feeder that allowed us to change milk only every 4 hours and still provide him with a milk bar that was continously available. His first winter was harsh though and he didn't grow as tall as he might have if he could have stayed on his dam. Thank you to everybody who supported him during his first year with tender loving care, feeding shifts, goat milk, replacement mare experiments and advice!
